The alignments of Carnac date from the Neolithic and were erected several millennia before the arrival of the Celtic peoples in the region. Many hypotheses have been put forward about them. No sure answer has been found. The most likely explanation would be the construction of paths that would lead to tumuli, and therefore these lines of rocks erected and drawn in a straight line would probably have a spiritual and funeral function.

The stone rows, also known as the Alignments of Carnac (individual menhirs and dolmens) in Carnac can only be visited with a guide (fenced in).
Anyone who travels by bike (or on a day hike) is well advised, as the area extends over 5 km.
The menhirs are essentially made of granite rock.
