Once upon a time there was the Kleiner Russee and the Vorderer Russee. But that is now more than 120 years of history. The lakes silted up and silted up more and more until nothing remained of the Kleiner Russee (also Hinterer Russee). Between 1975 and 1977 the excavators moved to the Vorderen Russee and freed it from 250,000 m3 of mud.

Until shortly before the Second World War, the Vorderen Russee had its own bathing establishment, including a lake fisherman. Today there is one or the other small square that is used as a bathing area. Enchanted paths run along the shore. Birch plants such as black alder and swamp forests of alder, birch and willow line the shore areas.

The Russee in the Kiel district of the same name is now one of the popular local recreation areas in the state capital.

A nice path leads through the silted up Hinterer Russee to the district of Hammer with its beautiful and recommendable game reserve 😊.
