A very old specimen, which is only held together by the technology of mankind and is allowed to continue to exist.

In the Asbeck stories, the linden tree is referred to as the "dancing linden tree" and the "judicial linden tree". A wooden floor probably once spanned the linden tree, which the Lords of Asbeck sometimes used to hold their feasts. In addition, the linden tree is said to have served as a free court for the Lords of Asbeck.
The so-called 1000-year-old Asbeck linden tree has been listed as a natural monument in the Borken district since the 1980s, and since then it has been taking care of the natural monument.

Since the 1980s, stronger branches have also been connected to one another by wire ropes in order to provide each other with support. The pole connections additionally support the natural monument, which was split into two halves of a tree by a lightning strike.

The tree has a height of approx. 18 meters, its crown diameter is approx. 19.5 meters.

A tree that is really worth seeing. The crown is still very vital.
