The parish was founded in 1280. The brick building is decorated with hanging arches; the interior consists of three naves with round arches, with columns partly round and partly composed of four half columns linked in a single block. The facade is enlivened by pointed openings. The coexistence of Romanesque and Gothic elements suggests that the church was built in two successive phases. It is assumed that the architect of the parish church may have been Andrea Pisano, already known for having melted the first door of the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Florence in 1330.Inside there is the 12th century cylindrical stoup.
