Fraport AG has created a new viewing platform on the northwest runway. The point east of Fire Station 4 has long been a popular location for visitors, walkers and so-called “plane spotters”. Here an almost three meter high platform was created in front of the dune. The platform offers an area of 75 square meters. At a length of 25 meters, visitors can position themselves in the front row and set up their cameras. At this point - depending on the direction of operation - the aircraft are either still just in the air or they are rolling past there after touching down.
Visitors can use the platform free of charge all year round. A shelter provides protection in bad weather, and benches and free parking spaces have been set up within walking distance.

The viewing platform can be reached from the Airportring via Okrifteler Straße. From here, in the curve area of the Mönchwaldtunnel, just before fire station 4, a forest path leads off to the right and leads directly to the parking lot. From there it's about a 100 meter walk.
