It is an inhabited nucleus located literally on the border with the territory of the municipality of Soiano del Lago. The border in fact enters to carve out the area occupied by the church which is therefore registered in the census of Soiano. Diminutive of castle to indicate the building of minor structural and strategic importance.

Now there are no longer any traces of it but the location of the defensive building on the hill above the inhabited centre, currently occupied by a modest rural building, is indicated by the presence of a retaining wall of a rather ancient construction technique and by the discovery of several ceramic shards rough low medieval.

The stages of the process of administrative aggregation to the community of Polpenazze del Garda still remain difficult to specify because this hamlet, like that of Bottenago but with a different historical-institutional path, has never been recognized as an original "villa", probably due to the small size of the inhabited area.
