Maare-Mosel Cycle Path

The Maare-Moselle cycle path is on an old railway line (length approx. 60 km) and therefore the altitude difference (incline mostly around 2-3%, but sometimes up to 6%) is limited. Due to some bridges and tunnels, as well as old train stations, the route is very varied.

A short race at the beginning leads up to the viaduct near Daun – the first and only challenge is mastered. With a stunning panoramic view of the Eifel, the little ones can catch their breath for a bit, then the next adventure awaits.
There's great cheering at the "Großes Schlitzohr" (Great Slacker), as it's the second-longest bike tunnel in Germany – so turn on the lights and off we go. The bike tour continues at a relaxed pace through beech forests and past glittering maars. No car noise, just the gentle rustling of leaves, the chirping of birds, and the laughter of children.From Bernkastel-Kues, a bike bus takes you back to the starting point. The Maare-Mosel cycle path is ideal for beginners and beginners, regardless of whether you start in Daun, Gillenfeld or Wittlich. Except for a few short climbs, it is constantly downhill on an old railway line, well paved. The path goes through tunnels, vineyards, over and along the Lieser and ends at the Moselle.
