Meiringen is the main town of the beautiful Haslital and is a perfect starting point or stage destination for wonderful bike tours. Nearby are the legendary Reichenbach Falls, where author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had his master detective Sherlock Holmes plunged into the depths - which is why there is a Sherlock Holmes Museum in town. Incidentally, the waterfalls are worth a visit even without horror stories.
