The Stinker Tower is now part of the Dingolfing Museum and was privately owned from the mid-19th century to 1997.
It is a semicircular brick tower with a conical roof made of wooden tiles (dating from the 15th century) and was part of the medieval city fortifications.
The stinker tower served as an urban civic detention center for male prisoners. Its name probably goes back to the bad smelling prison cells (excerpt from the website of the city of Dingolfing)
