Water emerges here on a marl horizon within the northern full gravel. A short but beautiful so-called “stone channel” has formed at this small layered spring; d. i.e., the water flows in a channel made of limestone tuff. Both inorganic and organic processes play a role in the precipitation of lime dissolved in water. Spring mosses and various algae and microorganisms are involved in the construction of the channel.
