If you want to go to the dump in Göttelborn, you can start at the bottom. In Quiersche at the Schützenhaus, for example. In the railroad, Glashütte district. The heap cannot be seen from there. To do this, the sloping dump hiker discovers a tunnel entrance. A mouth hole. 1850 is over it. At the time, workers extracted coal from this tunnel for the local glassworks. The last report about the tunnel dates from the year 1890. It reads: "At the Quiigart mine, operations were completely shut down as a result of the fire that broke out again." No broken leg. Especially since the first serious coal mining in the area of today's Göttelborn has been taking place a few meters further in the Kohlwald since 1884. The Göttelborn mine officially opened in 1887. It was still running when the Quierschieder Glashütte ceased operations in 1914 after 135 years. No longer the glass, the coal was to become the elixir. The Göttelborn mine. Camphausen. Everyone stands on Quierschieder district and should shape the face and history of the community. Til today.
