The "Schwedenstein" was built around 1500, when this area was not yet wooded but a wide heather. This copy of the stone is also not in its original location, but only in its vicinity. The stone probably has nothing to do with the Swedes either, although there are local legends about it. It is more likely that it is a torture or an atonement stone. But since there are no traditions about it, there is plenty of space for stories and legends, which only makes this stone all the more mysterious and interesting.
