Nicely laid out kindergarten in the forest 🌲🌲🌲

    Translated by Google •

In July 1996, Mrs. Barbara Meixelsperger read about the Berglen forest kindergarten in the magazine "Kraut und Rüben" under the heading: "Where children blossom". Then she got the ball rolling. In the autumn of the same year she sat in on the forest kindergarten in Schalkham. Her comrade-in-arms was Maike Bauhus-Bierl. After that it was "bang on bang". Newspaper advertisement: "Who is interested in a forest kindergarten?" Contacting the city of Furth im Wald, youth welfare office, nature conservation authority, forester ...
A wide variety of experiences with regular kindergartens and their pedagogical concepts encouraged the parents again and again to support their project or to help shape it themselves.
On May 6th, 1997, the forest kindergarten was opened with 16 boys and girls and affiliated to the St. Nepomuk Ränkam kindergarten as an independent group.
On April 1, 1999, the city of Furth im Wald took over responsibility for the forest kindergarten.

We are one of over 700 forest kindergartens in Germany and one of the first in Bavaria. Actually, we are a completely normal kindergarten, only our "house" is not made of stones, but trees. In the rhythm of the seasons, the children consciously experience nature and learn to treat it with care. In the forest, all of the children's senses are stimulated naturally and in many different ways.

Forest kindergartens originated in Denmark. Such institutions have existed there since the early 1970s. In the forest kindergarten everything takes place in the great outdoors. Here the children run, play, do handicrafts and let off steam in the forest and on the meadow.
