The small, pretty forest area near the train station is well worth a visit. There was no castle here, but an ammunition depot did in the 1940s. Nothing more can be seen of this. In view of the approaching British, it was blown up on Good Friday 1945, with the surrounding courtyards being severely damaged and nature being devastated, as evidenced by a memorial stone in the forest.
