This village church from the 14th century is unusually large. The key to the interior is deposited with the neighbors.

St. Mary's Church is the parish church of the Protestant parish of Poseritz.
Construction of St. Mary's Church began after 1300. The nave was built first, and later, around 1450, the choir in the east and the tower in the west were added. In the 18th century, the church was furnished in keeping with the period. The altar dates from 1703 and was made by Jacob Freese in his workshop, and the pulpit was built in 1753. As in many churches on Rügen, there is a confessional here too. During an interior restoration in the 1930s, the galleries were largely removed.
The church was unusable from 1986 to 1993. In 1988, a major renovation began, which cost around 1.2 million DM by 1993. The roof trusses and roofs over the nave and choir had to be replaced, the statics of the church were secured, and the masonry was renovated. The tower was secured in its stability with steel anchors and the roof was re-shingled with oak. The church is now awaiting an interior renovation, which is difficult to accomplish given the financial situation of the parish. Services take place every two weeks on Sundays at 10 a.m., alternating between Poseritz and Swantow.auf-nach-mv.de/reiseziele/a-dorfkirche-poseritz
