Moscow Road is not only more direct than the main highway, and an arguably more interesting romp through the forest-dwelling hippie communities of Villa Grande and Monte Rio: it is also virtually car traffic-free, thanks to the years of closure after the Russian River washed out the bank under the Road. Bikers can weave through the barricades.

Moscow Road is not currently passable - construction has finally started and the road has been dug up - looks like possibly a culvert is being installed. It is not possible to walk or ride around the construction. Check Sonoma County road closures for updates roadclosures-sonomacounty.hub.arcgis.com
