At this point you can clearly experience the geological nature of the Eggekamm. The hard Osning sandstone, from which the mountain range is made, emerges openly here and forms imposing steep cliffs. In the past you also had a beautiful view of the valley from here. You can only guess at this point, because the trees growing below the cliffs have now exceeded them in height and block the view.
A little digression into geology: The Egge Mountains consist of a layer of the relatively hard Osning sandstone that rises at an angle of 3-9 ° to the east. This rests on softer layers that weather faster. Thus this support is being hollowed out from the east. Over geological periods of time, the sandstone layer breaks off at the edge because the support of the deeper layers is missing. This creates the characteristic shape of this mountain range: rising moderately in the west, then falling abruptly to the east into the significantly deeper valley that has been cleared by the erosion processes.

Beautiful way. You have to be a little careful because the terrain is a bit rough in places and the abyss runs right next to the path. But the view and the main part of the walk is just great!
