What today appear to be harmless, plant-filled depressions in the forest are in fact silent witnesses to the war.
In 1945, the French occupying forces blew up large Wehrmacht ammunition depots here. What remained were circular craters that over time filled with water, ferns, and life.
A perfect example of how nature reclaims its place – on soil that was once deadly.

The calm water, surrounded by trees and reeds, is a popular resting place for ducks – hence the name.
