According to tradition, a castle was built on the Schellenstein towards the end of the 10th century, but the owner of Altpernstein supposedly burned it down. From the castle you can only see the well shaft. On the Schellenstein there is a wooden cross and a bank from which you have a beautiful view of Kirchdorf, Micheldorf and over to Altpernstein castle.
