Golden Sand stretches for miles in the Bay of Palma and scores points with fine golden sand. Well maintained as it is with nice cafés, parasols and sun loungers, it attracts a diverse crowd. But that doesn't just consist of German sunbathers and party animals. Many Spaniards and local families use the central location of the wide Can Pastilla and spend their free time and after work there. Getting there is also uncomplicated: a bus commutes to Palma and back.

If you are looking for a bit of exercise on land, you can stroll, jog or skate on the palm-lined, traffic-calmed boulevard towards the capital. In the other direction, the beach promenade leads towards Ballermann. The numbered beach cafés called Balnearios offer orientation aids. The entire beach in the Bay of Palma is divided into 15 zones, stretching from the capital to Ballermanner.

In the high season you are of course not alone at Can Pastilla, but you are also not as squeezed in as you would expect on the most obvious of all Mallorca beaches. In the low season, on the other hand, it gets pleasantly empty.

        Very nice bike path.

Unfortunately a bit slow and narrow for racing bikes 😒
