The state water reservoir Förmitztalsperre was put into operation in 1978 as a water protection measure. Here water is retained from the catchment areas of the Förmitz and the Lamitz in times of runoff and added to the Saale in times of runoff.
You can go swimming, surfing, diving, sailing, fishing, biking, hiking.

Also called Förmitztalsperre.Things worth knowing about this:The barrier structure is a rockfill dam with a sealing core. The inner seal consists of a diaphragm wall made of soil concrete (clay concrete), which has a clay core on both sides and a supporting body made of rock and stone. The main storage has an area of 116 ha and a storage volume of approx. 10 million cubic meters. The length and width of the reservoir are about 1.2 km. The main dam is 800 m long and 32.5 m high.Source and further information:
