According to legend, the Kundler gorge was bitten by a dragon from the rock. A farmer had outwitted and killed the monster. In the death struggle, the dragon bit through the rock and the lake, which until then had filled the Wildschönau, emptied itself.
Open from mid-April to mid-November. Walking time in the gorge about 1 hour. The Wildschönauer slow train travels daily from May 17 to mid-October between 10 and 16 o'clock every hour on the hour to the entrance of the Kundler gorge.

The Kundler gorge is a gorge along the Wildschönauer Ache.
It is closed from 15 November to 31 March for safety reasons and in heavy rains. In the summer season there is also the possibility to reach the gorge with the "Wildschönauer Bummelzug" from Mühltal.
After an accident by rockfall, the gorge was closed in 2007 and carried out renovation and security work. After their completion, the gorge is officially open again since 2009.
