All that remains of a once proud and grand Elizabethan country house. Today, the ruins are a nice little place for an explore or a cheeky scramble.
Built by Sir John Savile towards the end of the 16th century, the house passed from the Savile family to the Brudenell family, though the latter showed little interest in its inhabitation or upkeep. To save on maintenance, the house was demolished using gunpowder in the early 18th century.
