The city of Joliet restored a typical ice cream parlor that was found several times during Route 66's heyday and set up Route 66 Park behind it, from which the Collins Street State Prison can be seen. It was built in 1858 and closed in 2002. It became famous as a location for the film "Blues Brothers" and the TV series "Prison Break".
