The baroque building of the castle church of St. Aegidien is one of the most striking buildings in the city of Bernburg (Saale). At the same time, the parts of the Romanesque predecessor church that are still visible on the outside - the crossing tower and the apse used as a princely crypt - are a reminder of perhaps 1,000 years of building, church and community history on this site.
