Hikers in Albstadt are almost magically attracted to the “Schleicherhütte” (902 meters) viewing pavilion, which sits majestically on the Öschlefels to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view when the weather is clear. The builder was the Öberförster Rudolf Schleicher, who headed the Ebinger Forstamt from 1902 to 1911. In 1990, hurricane Wiebke completely destroyed the Schleicher hut. But what would Ebingen be without a Schleicher hut? That is why the THW built a new hut in 1992.

The Schleicherhütte vantage point is 920 m above sea level on the premium hiking trail Taufgang Schlossfelsenpfad above Albstadt-Ebingen and offers beautiful views to the west. The shelter on the Eschlesfelsen also offers seating for a little break.
