The Schneeberg is easy to ride and with a bit of fitness even without E. The view is super nice, if the weather makes. A great place to enjoy a little rest and quiet (if not busy). Buam and Madl have fun and get up! 👍

In contrast to the nearby Ochsenkopf, the Schneeberg is less touristy. From the past, there is still the unmistakable radio system on the high plateau that gives the summit its distinctive face.
The so-called "Backöfele", which serves as a viewing platform, has been renewed and is accessible again (as of 2020).

The Schneeberg is the highest mountain in the Fichtelberg and at the same time the highest in the Franconia, at the Backöfele you have a beautiful panoramic view in good weather

On top of the Schneeberg there is a former telecommunications tower of the Bundeswehr, now a memorial to the Cold War. Furthermore, the "Backöfele" observation tower was newly built in 2017, from which one has a wonderful view over the Fichtel Mountains.

up there ..... that has something, over 1000 meters high, lonely and abandoned .... with a lot of history

Tourist not as accessible as the Ochsenkopf you will find more peace to enjoy nature on the highest mountain in the Fichtelgebirge. In the autumn of 2017, the new viewing platform is the back of the oven again rebuilt and walkable. Thus, one can look unhindered over the trees and the old military monitoring system.

On the Schneeberg summit you have a great view around the Fichtelgebirge. The climb is sometimes very difficult as you have to climb up a very rocky path. But the view compensates for all hardships 😎

To get up here with the bike, you should ask exactly how you should drive, we had to push a section on totally blocked terrain.
January 26, 2019
The Schneeberg can be raised partly by forest / hiking trails. The last piece to the snow mountain can be raised either by road or over the newly created forest road. Once at the top you have a great view from the Backöfele.

If you go by bike to the Schneeberg, it is recommended to take the route that does not include a rock road unless you like to carry your bike 😉
August 1, 2018
Beautiful all-round view and good ascent opportunities, the highest point, 1051 m above sea level. The region of Upper Franconia should be seen and experienced ...
August 11, 2018
The military structures, including the Telecommunication Tower, are not exactly a feast for the eyes, but on the highest elevation in the Fichtelgebirge you can already see over it - and beyond the surrounding landscape
July 23, 2018
Old disused military installation at the highest point in Franconia, great all-round view of the platform
August 18, 2019
The annual average temperature of 3.7 ° C in the summit region can be felt even in midsummer. It's just not so hot up there!
September 18, 2019
Very interesting is also the environment, up to 2 km from the summit Schneeberg, there would be the Rudolfstein, the 1000m stone, the Haberstein, the Nußhardt and (alpine hut) the lake house after all still at 922 m; here is coffee, cake ☕️ 🍰 but also good food and snack.
Opposite Schneeberg you can see the Ochsenkopf at 1024 m and the 885 m plateau next to it. DT

The Schneeberg and over here at the 1000 meter stone is the highest point in Upper Franconia and therefore one should be on top 😊.
Aufm Schneeberg with 1051 m above sea level. you have a very nice view and at the legendary Backöfele you can take a break from the climb and enjoy the panorama.
