From my starting point of this walkway there's a way on the left and right around the hill. Komoot doesn't know the walkway over the summit in the middle of those tracks (not a wonder for there are just some signs in the middle of heaps of thistles) but this is definitely the more fascinating way. It offers a stunning view over Hawkes Bay and as well the hills and the wetlands which were a big harbour until an earthquake 1931 which raised the land.
The wetlands following after this track are not that interesting apart from all those animal voices you can here. Riding would be much better rather than walking because by the time they are boring and seem to be endless. ;)

From the starting point there is a path left or right around a small mountain; Komoot does not know the route just above the summit (no wonder, it is littered with thistles and only marked by a few signs). But this trail is far more interesting as it offers a good overview of the bay (Hawkes Bay), the surrounding green hills and the wetlands. These were a considerable haven until a big 1931 earthquake that raised the country a considerable amount.
The wetlands following the marked section are more of a bike ride. The landscape is interesting, but for a long time little varied - apart from the many animal sounds.
