The castle was built around 1380 by Friedrich Kemnater; Burgmann von Neidstein, built and mentioned for the first time in 1383. From 1877–1975 it was used as a country school and house. Damaged in World War II in 1945, it was subsequently rebuilt. On the day of the open monument there is the possibility to view the equipment of the Kirchenreinbacher castle on 3 floors and in 15 rooms. The castle is privately owned and cannot normally be visited. It is listed in the list of monuments in Etzelwang under number D-3-71-140-12.
