Hornsburg is a beautiful small and (especially in summer with floral decorations) wonderfully prepared village. The road climbs steeply from the village to the north until a small bench on the right-hand side invites you to take a short break just before the forest - including a panoramic view to the south!

      short steep up, curvy down

A highly recommended scenic variant for tours through the Kreuttal. The total ascent to the Ochsenberg actually begins in the Kreuttal at the junction towards Hornsburg and is quite long (with flatter passages in between). The section presented here is the steepest part on the outskirts of the town in the direction of Großrußbach. Since you have already climbed quite a bit here, you have to overcome your weaker self again. You haven't quite made it after that, because shortly after the curve (parking lot Bogenschieß-Kreuttal-Parcours left) it gets steep again for a short time before you have reached the highest point in the forest and you then head in the direction of Großrußbach (or am Ochys-Kletterpark on the area of a Neolithic/Bronze Age circular ditch in the direction of Oberkreuzstetten). This piece is also highly recommended as a descent. You only have to be careful at the curve near the parking lot and especially at the tight curve in Hornsburg, because you drive quite fast here after the steepest part and you should slow down before that. Otherwise you can roll down comfortably. In summer, the long stretches of forest provide pleasant shade. When driving in the evening or when the weather is not too hot, you should pack arm warmers or a wind jacket for the descent, as the long shadow descent can then become uncomfortably cool.
