In the 18th and 19th centuries, Seaton Carew hosted wealthy Quaker families who would come to enjoy the fresh sea breeze and golden sands. The seaside village is named after a Norman French family, Carou, who settled there. Seaton Carew is still popular with holidaymakers today thanks to its sea, sand, and abundance of chippies.
