The Solfelsen (sometimes called Pelzkappenstein) was registered as a natural monument in 1950. With a height of 5.4 meters and a mass of 230 tons, the exposed stone is not an ice age boulder, but was created by a long-lasting weathering process.

A 230 ton granite ball shaped by wind and weather. Great rock formations all around and great table and bench opportunities to take a break and have a picnic. Views over the Rhine Valley and Jura to the Alps.
