Kronberg Gipfel

At an altitude of only 1,663 meters you can enjoy a panoramic view that is second to none. Those who have become hungry or thirsty can stop in the nearby mountain restaurant and fortify themselves. Everyone else has the opportunity to move on and explore other beautiful places.

The food in the Berggasthaus Kornberg is very good. On nice days, however, there is hardly any space on the terrace with a sensational Säntis view.

The Kronberg is actually more of a very large green hill than a real mountain, the rocks are largely missing. But maybe that's why it's very nice and recommendable. High by foot or LSB.

From Kronberg you have a great view of Lake Constance on the one hand and on Säntis and Alpstein on the other

Whether on foot or by train, a trip to the Kronberg is definitely worth it with good visibility. Super view from the Säntis to the Hohen Kasten and that on a terrace with friendly service. The driver of the cable car is also happy to provide information about the mountains and the surrounding area, you just have to prick up your ears, the Appenzell dialect takes some getting used to!

Actually I wanted to run up from Schwende. But because of the rain (and the Appenzell holiday pass provided by the hotel), I chose the comfortable route by train and cable car.

The start from the Kaubadhotel. There are about 15 parking spaces from there after the hotel link up over a steep, rooty path. Those who prefer to walk more comfortably go straight up from the street. Once at the height, it's a pleasant hike, lots of fun
