Heroldsmühle Watermill

Mill with old iron mill wheel from 1916. It has a diameter of 7.20 m and is considered one of the largest mill wheels in Germany. Especially the hollow stone column in the water is directed upwards to additional drive. Mill operation until 1952. At the moment also no catering.

Particularly noteworthy about this mill is the old iron water wheel or mill wheel from 1916. It has a diameter of 7.20 meters and is one of the largest mill wheels in Germany. The mill wheel is driven by the stream (undershot) and also overshot, in that water is directed upwards through a hollow stone column and thus provides additional driving force.
The mill was in operation until 1952, in 1975 the building was restored and redesigned as a restaurant, which had been closed since November 2010. The restaurant has been open again since May 2014 and offered Franconian snacks and refreshments. In February 2016 it was closed again for personal reasons.
