The Elbpark Entenwerder is a public park on the Entenwerder peninsula in the Norderelbe in the Rothenburgsort district of Hamburg. The park is about 16 hectares in size and extends over the entire area of the peninsula near the Norderelb bridges.
The Entenwerder peninsula served as a customs island for inland navigation vessels. Until the 1990s, 1.8 hectares were used by carpenters as caravan sites and winter storage. After a new area had been found for the showmen in the Bergedorf district, the Elbpark was prepared and opened to the public in 1997. I.
In the east of the peninsula there are lawns, which are divided by trees. There the peninsula can be reached via the Alexandra staircase. On the eastern edge of the green area is the traditional “Entenwerder Fährhaus” excursion restaurant. In addition to barbecue areas, leisure activities include a beach volleyball court, soccer goals and a playground. At the western end of the peninsula, a lowered rondelle was built for events, which is bordered by pyramid poplars.

Entenwerder, you can confidently say, doesn't make it very easy for visitors. But - and that should also be stated, if you love peace, a somewhat wilder nature and water, you have made the right choice with this peninsula.
Because Entenwerder is east of HafenCity, east of the Elbbrücken, east of the federal highway 255 but on the southern edge of the Rothenburgsort district. Right on the Elbe. Those who want to go there either have a navigation device or the good old Hamburg city map. Because Entenwerder, the former customs station for inland waterway vessels and until the 1990s a storage place for vehicles by showmen, Entenwerder is hidden in the district behind industrial backdrops, flood protection walls and tall, densely growing trees.
This customs station was converted into a park around 1997. The peninsula can be described as unique. With a view of the named Elbe bridges and the HafenCity, in the west, and the industrial backdrops on the southern bank of the Elbe and in the east, the location on the Elbe is particularly enchanting. Since only inland vessels can operate on this section of the Elbe, you can imagine yourself on the Rhine or Danube, while your feet dangle in the dark gray-blue water.
In the course of building the park, two large, spacious green and open spaces were created. Well cared for, but there are meadows and no lawns.
The choice of plants and trees was deliberately chosen so that a natural character is created. Nonetheless, the wildness of the complex, the tranquility in front of the city, apart from the distant highway, and the immediate and partially accessible banks of the Elbe offer a special quality - in the middle of the city - although it seems far away.

The Entenwerder Elbpark is best known for the Café Entenwerder 1 and the many open-air parties in summer. But in addition to party atmosphere and coffee chat, the Entenwerder Elbpark is a wonderful place of rest and perfect for a beer after work. With the S21 towards Bergedorf and a short bike path or a 15-minute walk from the S-Bahn station to the park, you will be out of the hustle and bustle of the city in a short time. The special thing about it: With the light rustling of the motorway in the background and the large, tall trees, an atmosphere like that in Central Park is created. Hamburg is just like New York, just more beautiful.

The Elbpark Entenwerder was opened in 1990 and is a peninsula south of the Rothenburgsort district. It used to serve as a customs island for inland navigation vessels.
In 2017, the park became known through clashes over a protest camp against the G-20 summit. The organizers broke off the camp after they no longer wanted to be "harassed by the police and justice".
The recommendable Café Entenwerder 1 is located on the pontoon in the Elbe. The view of the river and city nature is very beautiful.
