Barop Tower

The tower was built in honor of the educator Johann Arnold Barop, who worked in Keilhau.The tower is open on the last Sunday of the month from May to September. The tower will be looked after by the Bad Blankenburg branch association Thuringian Forest Association on these days.Dates in 2021

The Baropturm was built between 1877 and 1878 and has a total height of 17 m at an altitude of 502.3 m above sea level.
The construction costs at that time were 6,000 Reichsmarks.
The walls are 1.1 m thick at the bottom and 0.7 m at the top.
