Best Hikes to Emmensprung (Source of the Waldemme)

Tips

  • Above a small forest, the spring water bubbles out of the ground as if from nowhere, rushing down into the forest over moss-covered rocks and forming two waterfalls. It then flows as a stream through meadow slopes down into the valley to Schönenboden, where it finally flows into the Waldemme. This bubbling spring - known as the Emmensprung - thus forms one of the sources of the Waldemme. The Emmensprung can be reached in around 50 minutes from the valley station of the Sörenberg-Brienzer Rothorn cable car. The Emmensprung is also on the "Emmenuferweg" between the Brienzer Rothorn and Emmenbrücke, the first stage of which leads from the Brienzer Rothorn over the Eissee and this Emmensprung to Sörenberg.
