The Ströhen zoo is a privately run zoo in the Ströhen district of the Wagenfeld community in the Diepholz district.

The private zoo, which opened in 1959, is located in a large park, forest and meadow area around an old farm in Lower Saxony that has been family-owned for several hundred years. In the nature park with natural open spaces and extensive bodies of water, over 600 mammals and birds from five continents are presented to visitors on an area of 30 hectares. An additional 200 horses are looked after in the stud with a total area of 160 hectares. The service area includes a restaurant, a café and a kiosk.

Animal population: In the first part of the zoo there are exotic mammals and birds. The animal population with over 50 species includes tigers, pumas, tapirs, monkeys, llamas, kangaroos and alpacas. Birds are used, inter alia. Ostriches, cranes, herons and flamingos kept.

The forest part is home to native, European animal species. Characteristic for this area are large enclosures for deer and other ungulates, but also many smaller cages and aviaries distributed in the park.

An internationally known Arabian stud (thoroughbred Arabs) is attached to the nature park, the largest private stud in Europe, which can also be visited. (Wiki)

Tierpark Ströhen is a traditional family business that is now being run by the third generation with modern minds.

Our animal population includes over 800 animals, settled on an area of 30 hectares. There is a lot to discover here, from the Siberian tiger to elephants, zebras, pumas, meerkats, dwarf otters, gibbons, camels, various types of antelope, to water fowl and exotic birds.
