The Steenberger Oosterveld is located east of Zuidwolde. This entire area is characterized by the alternation of forests, heaths and cultivated areas. The height difference that appealed to the imagination gave the northern part of this terrain the name "Little Switzerland". In two parts of the site, cows help to prevent the heath from growing up. Locally there are still beautifully developed, moist and drier heather vegetation.
