Secluded and artistically located historic military cemetery in the forest next to a hiking parking lot. The beginnings of the historic Obermarchtal military cemetery have only survived orally. They are said to go far back in the centuries. It was once called the "cemetery of strangers". Anyone who died near Obermarchtal as a traveler, pilgrim, handyman or beggar was reportedly buried in the stranger's cemetery. A particularly large number of soldiers who have traveled from west to east and east to west along the important military road along the Danube over the centuries are said to be buried here.
