Be sure to stop and take a look! The castle, once surrounded by a moat, was built between 1570 and 1576. It replaced an old castle. The moat around the castle is no longer filled with water. A stone bridge leads into the inner courtyard of the castle, a wooden drawbridge used to do this.
In the last century the building was used as a school and town hall. In 1965 it was renovated. Today it is the seat of the Kirchhausen Citizens' Registration Office.
