The ruins of Schenkenstein Castle lie on a spur above the Egertal. The complex from the 12th or 13th century was originally quite small. Parts of the palace, the ring wall, the trench and the round, impressive keep have been preserved to this day. With seating and a quiet atmosphere, as well as few visitors, the castle invites you to linger. Via the A7 exit "Aalen / Westhausen" onto the B29 via Westhausen and Lauchheim to Bopfingen-Aufhausen. In Aufhausen, follow Michelfelder Str. Towards the cemetery / train station. Park at the cemetery and follow the road uphill on foot. At the southeast end of the cemetery, follow the forest path on the left. After 200m, keep left on a footpath. This ends on the castle grounds. The castle can already be seen from the cemetery car park.
