The Bredenbeker Teich is just a stone's throw from Ahrensburg. It is a natural lake of around 35 hectares divided into two parts with a famous resident. This is where Maya the Bee lives with all her friends. Waldemar Bonsels, author of the story "Maya the Bee and her Adventures", spent a large part of his childhood at Bredenbeker Teich and was inspired to write his book by the many frogs, grasshoppers, spiders and of course bees.
