Rising at the western edge of the extraordinary landscape of Rannoch Moor, Stob a’Choire Odhair is particularly well seen from the A82, from where it beckons to passing drivers. It’s often climbed in combination with its grand neighbour, Stob Ghabhar and both are Munros. At 3,100 feet (945 m), Stob a’Choire Odhair’s summit involves a significant ascent but nothing technical. If you want to add in Stob Ghabhar, you’ll encounter much harder terrain and this extra Munro is suited to experienced mountain hikers.
An ascent of Stob a’Choire Odhair is always exposed, so it’s important to be prepared and keep an eye on the weather conditions. There’s a car park at Victoria Bridge, to the south of the mountain at the western end of Loch Tulla. The going is steep but fairly straightforward with some boggy sections lower down.
At the summit, the views east over Rannoch Moor are nothing short of incredible.

The mountain sits on the south western tip of Rannoch Moor and offers a great vantage point to gaze across the flat wetlands.
