The brick church was built in Gothic style around 1300 and is prominently located in the center of town. A large cemetery is attached to the church. The nave, choir, sacristy and tower hall are covered by ribbed vaults. The mighty tower, visible from afar, was added later. A crypt was discovered under the altar during restoration work. Late Gothic paintings have been preserved inside.stiftung-kiba.de/kirchen/dorfkirche-karby

The place name Karby / Kirchdorf derives from the Danish language usage. The term "karke" stands for church, "by" means village. Historically, Karby has always been the village with the church in the parish of the Schwansen region.
Karby owns an early Gothic style church from 1280. The 24 meter high, striking tower with a gable roof is particularly striking. The church in Karby is a real eye-catcher not only on the outside, but also on the inside. The carved law firm from 1592 probably comes from the picture carving workshop of Hans Gudewerdt from Eckernförde.
