The uniqueness of this idyllic place has been revered by Celts, Romans and Christians for over 2000 years. This is where the Jakobskirche stood, which Count Erlafried von Calw gave to Hirsau Monastery in 830 AD. The church was on a Jakobs-Pilger-Weg, which came from Sinsheim via Mühlacker, Heimsheim, Hirsau and Einsiedeln in Switzerland to the grave of the apostle James in Santiago de Compostella in Spain. The Jakobshütte was used as a death house until 1884.
