After 21 levels you reach the lookout point with a breathtaking view over the Hohe Mark. This opens up the entire area and you get a small idea of how many ways to walk here yet.

The fire tower Galgenberg is located about 1,100 meters southwest of the "Halterner stern" in Dorsten-Lembeck in the forest area Hohe Mark on a 122 meter high elevation. The tower has a height of 39 meters and was built in hot-dip galvanized steel framework construction method. The tower is accessible to the last platform, a height of 36 meters. The facility, with the exception of the top platform, is open to the public and provides a panoramic view of the treetops. On a clear day you can also see the other fire towers. The RVR maintains five fire watch towers in the northern Ruhr area. The intense local recreation in the forests of the Ruhr Metropolis holds the danger of triggering forest fires, especially in dry weather. In order to protect the valuable green areas and their living organisms from major losses due to forest fires, the RVR has its own fire station system. From April to September - depending on the weather - the towers are staffed with observers who can alert the fire brigade quickly and at an early stage by radio and telephone during the on-call time and direct them to the place of deployment.

Where once in Dorsten the executed or leprosy people were buried, now stands a fire tower on the Galgenberg. This tower is not really small, and offers as far as the top, a wide view over the Hohe Mark.

It's really a nice view from up there. The tower was also occupied and we were told some information.
