The name Hemmersuppenalm comes from the White Germer, which is locally called Hemmer. The plant is poisonous and is not eaten by cattle. The White Germer thrives particularly well in damp, swampy sections of the Alm, which are also referred to as soup. This resulted in the Hemmersuppenalm.

There is no inn on the alpine pasture with several houses and St. Anna chapel! The serviced Hindenburg hut is not far away.
