'The Birks o'Aberfeldie' is a song lyric written for a pre-existing melody in 1787 by Robert Burns. To commemorate this famous poem, the Birks (Scots word for birch) has been landscaped to include an exciting path that visits the waterfalls on both sides of the valley. A fibreglass statue of Robert Burns sits on a bench near the start of the walk. He is depicted composing the poem.
The statue is often removed for cleaning and maintenance, so it isn't always present.

Sadly the statue disappeared when we were there! Just the bench and a small ring of rust upon it remained. Visited March 2022.
