The mouth of the Lauter was relocated in the course of the straightening of the Rhine at Lauterbourg by about five kilometers to the north; To the south of the new estuary mouth, the "Alte Lauter" ("La Vieille Lauter") still marks the state border between France in the south and Germany in the north up to its own mouth into the Rhine. To the right of the estuary is the easternmost point of France, left the southernmost point of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

At the marked point you pass the German-French border without noticing it. That's nice. The small river (the old Lauter) is the border.

Here is the border between Germany and France! And as it should be in Europe🇪🇺 there is nothing to see. The Lauter forms the border until shortly before Wissembourg. (Weissenburg)
